Overbearing synth dampers the towering melodic hook on "Mutiny Below" drowning in a little too much pop gloss. The self-deprecating humor of "Drunken Lament" and quietly simmering "Please" each give way to solid sing-a-long hooks, before drifting into forgettable, bland verses. While the hooks are always solid and memorable, many of the songs fall short with bland verses that go unnoticed. The band sounds downright sugary on the piano garnished "Topeka", featuring gooey harmonized verses and a catchy melodic hook. Rumbling bass and stumbling beat sloppily rock through "Go-Getter Greg", about a man's clumsy search for a girlfriend. Sunny "Such As It Ends" is an addictive blend of bopping bass and twinkling keys, serving as a hopeful search for romantic reconciliation.

Creepiest of all is angst-filled "The Horror Of Our Love", full of sparse shimmering guitar and lines like, "I want you stuffed into my mouth / Hold you down and tear you open / Live inside you, love, I'd never hurt you". Their love for horror continues on the tense "Lake Pontachartrain", playing out like an eerie campfire tale told over stabbing riffs, about the band trying, in vain, to escape a haunted lake. If the menacingly strutting riffs do not pull you in, lines like, "And when her edges soften, her body is my coffin / I know she drains me slowly, she wears me down to bones in bed", will do the trick. Front man, Andrew Volpe delivers a killer vocal performance, compelling without becoming theatrical. I found God in a catalytic converter In Topeka on a Monday night.- Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Sinner has a future" Be sure to listen for the timing and also to post any corrections. The album's unique title comes from the twitchy, ragged rocker "Love Me Dead", combining their off kilter shock-rock verses with a swaggering melodic pop hook. I found God in a catalytic converter In Topeka on a Monday night. All you feel is the current flowing through you And seizing your infected heart. From here on you can count on all things going The way they must have from the start.
